Sandzén Gallery donors and members provide vital funds to support and enhance the mission of the Gallery. Members receive invitations to special events; a subscription to the quarterly newsletter Gallery Notes; and announcements about upcoming exhibits.
Gift Memberships
Sharing your love of Birger Sandzén’s art with a family member or friend is also a special way to support the Gallery and give a unique gift to someone special.
Business Membership
Local and area businesses and corporations comprise the Business Membership group. They are owners, CEOs, and employees who convey a message of civic pride and commitment to excellence. At each membership level, there are many benefits, including a listing on our website; a link to your business on the website; invitations to member-only events; complimentary use of the Gallery for meetings or personal gatherings; and curator-led tours. Please get in touch with the Gallery staff if you would like to visit with someone about the advantages of becoming a business member.
New Addition to the Sandzén Gallery
Below are our plans to more than double the current storage and provide the permanent collection with necessary breathing space and room to grow. While we plan to continue using the current storage area, the new addition will house more artwork, have a dedicated library and archives, receiving area, and space for pedestals, shipping supplies, and other day to day necessities.
In addition to requesting funding from the Gallery’s dedicated supporters, our plans include applying for grants, auctioning items that don’t fit our mission or duplicate what’s here, and tapping into other revenue streams to generate the necessary $1.2 million needed for the new construction.
The Gallery’s permanent collection includes over 11,200 works of art and it is steadily growing. Currently, there are approximately 8100 prints, 1025 paintings, 605 drawings, 325 ceramic works, 145 sculptures, 75 pieces of jewelry, 70 glass pieces, 50 pieces of furniture, 50 photographs, 40 textiles, and 750 non-categorized objects in the collection.
Hailed throughout the world as the repository of Birger Sandzén’s cultural legacy, the Gallery has the premier collection of Sandzén’s artwork, including 257 oil paintings, 84 watercolors, 165 drawings, over 6,150 prints, and many of the artist’s sketchbooks. The family’s archives, held at the Gallery, consist of more than 9,600 letters in English and 3,100 in Swedish and other languages. Documents, exhibition catalogs, written materials, and photographs serve to record Sandzén’s life and interaction with his contemporaries.
