Birger Sandzén: Ecstasy of Color, was produced and directed by Joshua Hassel for Colorado Public Television. It is an hour-long documentary that tells Birger Sandzén’s story from his birth and education in Sweden, time in Paris, to his life as an artist and teacher in Lindsborg, Kansas. Inspired by the landscapes of Kansas, Colorado, Utah and the American Southwest, Sandzén’s paintings pushed at the limits of early modernism and moved towards abstraction.
