Sandzén Gallery Curator Cori North can complete approximate market and replacement value appraisals of Birger Sandzén’s artwork. These appraisals are free of charge and are based solely on her experience observing and collecting information from the marketplace.
Fair market value is defined as the price a willing, knowledgeable buyer would pay a willing, knowledgeable seller when neither has to buy or sell. Replacement values are the price in terms of cash or other precisely revealed terms that would be required to replace a property with another of similar age, quality, origin, appearance, provenance and condition, within a reasonable time in an appropriate and relevant marketplace. The appraisals reflect only the cost of the object and do not include any costs or necessary time incurred to locate and acquire the object. Framing, matting or other presentation materials are not reflected in the value provided. Replacement values should not be confused with fair market values – which in most cases will be lower than a replacement value.
If your needs require a certified appraisal (for estate or tax deduction purposes, etc.), Cori can provide a list of certified appraisers familiar with the art of Birger Sandzén. If you are not located in the Kansas region, you may contact the American Society of Appraisers or the Appraisers Association of America to find an appraiser in your area.
